Research

One of the main pillars of ARJ’s work. Our research studies traditional cultural practices from the Northeast through a careful, sensitive listening approach and respect for the communities that keep this knowledge alive. These studies result in publications, sound, visual, and textual records, helping to document and valorize popular culture in its full complexity.

Music Education

Teaching traditional music is a powerful tool for cultural valorization and social transformation. That’s why we believe that developing educational actions for diverse audiences is an important methodology for respecting and dialoguing with popular knowledge.

Professionalization Support

Professionalization also ensures that traditions remain alive and recognized as a craft and legacy. Therefore, we also work to strengthen the autonomy of masters, mistresses, and popular groups through actions that promote their insertion into cultural circuits, access to public policies, and the improvement of technical and administrative skills.

Event Production Support

Popular culture needs live spaces for meeting the public. That’s why we collaborate in the organization of performances, exhibitions, meetings, and festivals that valorize popular artists and strengthen their networks.

Cultural Product Support (CDs, Videos, Publications, etc.)

We collaborate in the design and production of materials that document, promote, and valorize Northeastern culture. From CDs and videos to printed and digital publications, we aim to engage with the knowledge of artists and communities.

Specialized Consulting

The Respeita Januário Association offers specialized consulting services for institutions, groups, and initiatives that wish to develop actions in the field of popular culture.

With over two decades of experience in promoting Northeastern culture, we are involved in the planning and execution of projects, curatorships, collection development, ethnographic documentation, safeguarding policies, and other services that require sensitive listening, technical knowledge, and respect for cultural territories.

In this way, we collaborate to ensure that actions are more just, sustainable, and connected with the knowledge of local communities.
